Dr. Art Rosengarten

A licensed Psychologist and Marriage & Family therapist in private practice since 1989, he is also an author, graduate professor of Psychology, as well as an innovative teacher/scholar of modern tarot. Dr. Rosengarten received both M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Clinical Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco (formerly the California Institute of Asian Studies). His areas of expertise include talk therapy for adults and adolescents, mindfulness training, couple’s counseling for improving relationships, guidance through separation and divorce, group psychotherapy, addiction and recovery issues, and Jungian active imagination.

Dr. Rosengarten wrote the first doctoral dissertation on tarot cards (1985), entitled: Accessing The Unconscious: A Comparative Study of Dreams, TAT, and Tarot (see Dissertation Abstract in archives of Tarotpsych) and has been a leading voice in the modern tarot movement for over 25 years. Art has been a regular guest on the nationally-syndicated talk radio program Coast To Coast AM with host George Noory for over a decade. He is author of the classic text in the field Tarot and Psychology: Spectrums of Possibility first published in 2000, and is also experienced in Jungian, Transpersonal, and Buddhist psychologies. His articles, poetry, and other writings can be found on his blog: FarSeeing Art.  His is pilot study of Tarot and Domestic Violence was presented at the First World Tarot Congress in Chicago (1997) sponsored by the International Tarot Society. Art has taught the psychological application of tarot tin the US, as well as in India and Egypt. Art’s self-created deck and guidebook–Tarot of the Nine Paths: Advanced Tarot for the Spiritual Traveler was published by Paragon House in 2009 and can be purchased on Amazon and (autographed) on this site as well.

Art is a published poet and essayist as well and  wrote the monthly e-column “Memos From The First Tabugian” for The Meta Arts Magazine (2002-03), won the “Consciousness Poetry Slam” at Tucson 3/Science of Consciousness Conference (at the University of Arizona); founded The Los Angeles Tarot Circle in the mid-nineties (with chapters in Santa Monica, Orange County, and N. County San Diego); completed the 18 month Buddhist-based Radiant Mind Course including the Nondual Teacher’s Training with author/teacher Dr. Peter Fenner; presented at the Science and Nonduality Conference a poster entitled Nonduality and Tarot Divination (2009).
